Gingerbread Salt Dough ornaments!

Updated: Oct 30, 2023

I love ❤️ creating with Salt Dough !

I love the concept of being able to create this dough whenever you want to create anything instantly.

For these cuties this is what I used .

Supplies need:

• All purpose Flour

•Sea Salt or regular Salt

• Water

• Brown , Black, Red, White acrylic paint

• Cinnamon

• Glitter

I got a container and poured 1 cup of Flour.

I used All Purpose flour that seems to work best .

Then I used 1/2cup of Salt.

I wanted to experiment so I decided to used Sea Salt for these!

You can use regular salt .

I then measured 1/2 cup of water .

I poured it slowly as I mixed everything together.

I also added a couple of squirts of Brown acrylic paint.

I added it slowly as I mixed it altogether.

I also poured my water in slowly.

Depending on how it's mixing you might not need all the water you don't want the dough to be sticky.

Especially since you are also using the paint.

Once everything is mixed sprinkle a little cinnamon on your working area as you form your shapes.

This prevents the dough from sticking to your counter .

I also put a piece of parchment paper down before working on my ornaments.

The round circles I formed by hand but you can use cookie cutters for everything.

I used a gingerbread cookie cutters for the other ones.

I also poked holes in the ones that I planned on using as ornaments so I could put a piece of Jude string in them .

I baked them at 250 degrees for about 30mins and then flipped them over for another 30 mins. Time may vary you might need to put them in shorter or longer depending on the thickness .

Just experiment and see .

Once they cooled I used my red to paint some cheeks on them .

I used Tile chalking to do the white details and Black paint for the eyes, mouth and buttons.

Once they dried I applied sealer on them and sprinkled with glitter!

That's it!

Look how simply adorable these turned out !

I hope you give these cuties a try !
