I love this Pilgrim couple so much !
What a perfect way to celebrate Thanksgiving!
I know Christmas is so exciting but I feel we need to stop and just be Thankful for all we have !
This is a nice reminder!
I was inspired by The Vintage Pebble she made hers out of wood ! Hers is just beautiful I dropped her link for it at the end of this blog so you can check hers out too!
I love working with cardboard and other forms of paper to be able to make this a very budget friendly project you can make it out of any stiff material you choose!
Supplies you will need:
• cardboard, card stock paper or file folder
• scrapbook paper
• book pages
• wide ribbon
• scissors
• hot glue
• clear Elmer’s glue or mod Podge
• antique white paint
• burnt umber paint
• black paint
• red paint
• brown wax or you can use the burnt umber paint for antiquing
For this set I did use a file folder !
It worked really well!
Once you gather your supplies you are ready to create !
Here is the patterns I used . This body measure 9 “ long and 3 1/2 “wide
These are the patterns for the other items .
Girl hat measure 3” 1/4 .
Girls Collar measures 4” towards the bottom.
Boys collar measures 4” from bottom.
Rim for boys hat measures 4” 1/2 wide and about 1” high .
Boys hat measures 3 “1/4 wide from the bottom the height is about 2”
Once you have your pattern all cut out you can then cut them out from whatever you choose to use .
This is mine I used the File Folder this time.
If you are using cardboard then you can paint the face this color .
Since mine was already that color it really didn’t make to much of a difference! 🤣
I then cut a piece of scrapbook paper and glued it on.
I used red for their cheeks.
I had a lot of grunge paper that I had prepared awhile back so that’s what I used to cover the collar .
Here’s the cheeks and collar glued on .
I did the same thing with her hat .
It’s so nice to have these supplies already made ahead of time such a time safer!
She’s looking so cute already !
I used this trim for her collar !
This was made with hot glue and my mold . Love making these !
You can use lace or ribbon as well for this step!
This is Super easy to make !
Just put hot glue in silicone mold let dry pop out and paint .
I love how she looks!
I added a couple of simple dots for her eyes!
Now the boy !
I pretty much did his face the same way I did the girl!
I then glued my wide ribbon on his body .
I bought this ribbon a year or so ago from Hobby Lobby . It was a pretty huge roll!
I trimmed it and he is looking pretty cute himself!
I did his collar the same way as the girl .
So here they are so far !
I painted his hat Black and glued it together.
I then glued it on him .
I gave him two dots for eyes too!
I then grunged them up by using my Dixie Belle Brown wax but you can use your Brown paint if you want to .
It’s up to you !
I chose to add these popsicle sticks to the back to reinforce them and this way they can be stuck into a small bale of hay or a pumpkin.
They are just so cute!
Here’s my Pilgrim family!
So darn cute! 🥰
I just love how fun and easy this project is !
They look beautiful !
What a wonderful way to celebrate Thanksgiving with this adorable Pilgrim couple!
You can also stick them in a potted plant or glue a little twine to create a hanger for them . Either way simply adorable!
Really anywhere you decide to display them they will definitely catch everyone’s eye!
